Home Alone Pet Sitting

Dogs in bed

Sometimes your dogs just don't want to get out of bed or maybe your cats don't like leaving home. Either way, you now have an option of "Pawtropolis delivered to your door!"

Pawtropolis owner, Amanda Rodriguez, started her career in pets by creating Home Alone Pet Care while in high school and college. She would go into people's homes and take care of their pets while they were on vacation or stop by to give a walk while they were are work. This high level of personalized care is what some pets need and some owners prefer.

Now that Pawtropolis is strong and established, Amanda wants to go back to her roots. Pawtropolis is now offering "Home Alone Pet Sitting Services."

Below are some of the reasons we've found that people may would choose pet sitting over coming to the facility:

  • Cats in Kitty CityMany, many pets. If you have a house full of
pets (like me) sometimes it can just be too expensive to board all 6 (or 7 or 8...) Home
Alone can provide a option that may be more economical.
  • Cats. Though Pawtropolis is very proud of Kitty City we are also aware that cats are very "place oriented." This means that they take longer to adapt to new situations than dogs do. For this reason many cat owners feel having someone come to the house is a better option.
  • Dog Walking. Many dogs do fine when left at home for the day. However, they still have the need to go for a walk or potty break during the middle of the day.
  • Cannot be vaccinated. Unfortunately some
pets are allergic to certain vaccines. Those
pets cannot board at a facility that requires immunizations. This problem is actually more common than you may think. We do need to get proof of each pet having his/her rabies vaccine since this is required by law and for the safety of our staff.
  • Checking on the home. Many people are nervous of having their home unwatched while out-of-town. We can stop by and check mail, turn off/on lights, water plants, etc.

Benefits of using Pawtropolis for your pet sitting needs:

  • Trusted care. Since pet sitters have first been screened by our interview process and trained through the certified training program offered through Pawtropolis you can rest assured that they will be good with your pets. Basically, if Amanda can trust them as an employee you can them as your pet sitter. (Additional training will be added for employees approved for the Home Alone Program.)
  • Flexible hours and easy to reach. You can rest assured that during our normal business (till 8pm) you will always be able to call and reach someone regarding our pet sitting services.
  • Established business. Being an established facility, we are governed by the Department of Agriculture and are a member of the American Boarding and Kennels Association (ABKA.) Amanda is the Georgia representative for ABKA.

How to set-up Home Alone Services:

  • LacyThe first step in setting up Home Alone Services is filling out a "Client Registration" form. This allows us to get basic information about you, your pets and what you need during our visits. You can request this form via email by clicking on the "Email Us" link to the left or stop by for a hard copy.
  • Give Pawtropolis 24-hours to get in touch with you once you have turned in the form. We will decide which animal caretaker will be assigned to your visits and they will contact you directly to set-up an initial meeting time.
  • Initial Meeting. The initial meeting is when a caretaker comes to the home to meet your pets and fill out a "Visit Instruction" sheet. You will need to provide them with a key at this point. This meeting is $15.00 (plus any extended drive time). Once you are an established Home Alone Client you will not need initial visits for other trips.
  • Each time a caretaker comes to your home they will leave a note about that visit. Telling you details you may need to know when you return. When you return to town, you then have 2-days to stop by Pawtropolis to pay and retrieve your key.

Prices:

Within a 10-mile radius of Pawtropolis:

  • $15.00 Initial Meeting. This fee is charged during the very first initial visit. This visit gives us a chance to meet the owner and learn or directions for the visits. This is only required once when you first become a client. (Additional drive time fees will be added if outside a 10-mile radius of Pawtropolis.)
  • $18.00 Base Price. This includes us being in the home for long enough to do quick errands such as feeding, sifting litter box, etc. These tasks can usually be accomplished within 15-minutes of being in the home.

Featured Adoptable
Featured Adoptable Meet Margie. Margie was scheduled to be adopted from Gwinnett Animal Control. When the family showed up and saw that she had sores on her skin they decided they didn't want her. Poor Margie's skin looks horrible. She suffered from the non-contagious mange. Though she's feeling much better her skin has a long way to go to look normal. Many people are passing her over because of this. Learn more about her story on the "Dogs for Adoption" page.
