Enrolling your dog for Daycare:
Doggie Daycare is such a unique environment that many dogs have yet to experience it. Because dogs are allowed to interact with others in the playgroups it is important to closely screen the dogs before they are allowed to play. It is also important that the staff build a relationship with each dog, ensuring that they make the best, most fun and safest groups possible. Therefore, before attending daycare or boarding all dogs must first pass the Temperament Test. Below are the requirements for all Temperament Tests:

  • All males dogs over 7 months must be neutered, no exceptions.
  • Females dogs will not be allowed to stay if in heat or recently out of heat.
  • Dogs may not be aggressive with either people or other dogs and may not be overly possesive of toys.
  • Temperament Tests are given Monday-Thursday only, no exceptions.
  • Temperament Tests cannot be given on the same day as an overnight.
  • Reservations for daycare or overnight cannot be made until the Temperament Test has been completed and passed.
  • Rabies, DHPP and Bordetella must all be up-to-date.
  • Puppies are only allowed if they have had at least 2 series of puppy shots and bordetella.

Temperament Test:

  1. Call your veteranarian and check that your dog is up-to-date on Rabies, DHPP and Bordetella. You can have them fax us the records at 706-208-0808. Personal hand-written records are not accepted and records must be obtained before the Temperament Test can be administered.
  2. You will need to complete the appropriate enrollment forms. To get the forms ahead of time, you can request them by email.
  3. Call Pawtropolis at 706-227-7887 or email us to schedule your dog's test. Tests are given only Mondays-Thursdays.
  4. When you arrive at Pawtropolis for your Temperament Test, you should plan to remain with your dog for at least 20 minutes. All dogs should be under your control on a leash. At this point we will review both your dog's vet records and enrollment application. Incomplete records will prevent your dog from being able to stay, so be sure to have all appropriate records upon arriving or call to check that we have received the records if faxed from your vet.
  5. While you are present we will conduct a Pre-Temperament Test Evaluation. This ensures us that your dog will be comfortable with us handling him after you are gone.
  6. At this point the owner can leave.
  7. We now take the new dog to the outside play area. We will assess his behavior and determine which group he will be more suited for. Once group decision is made we will begin to introduce dogs to the new dog one at a time. We are watching for any signs of overly dominant behavior or aggressiveness. If the new dog behaves appropriately, we will continue to bring out one dog at a time until the whole group has been introduced.
  8. New dogs need to stay at Pawtropolis for a minimum of three hours for their Temperament Test. If they are doing well they may stay for the entire play day and not have to be picked-up until 7:30pm.
  9. When you pick your dog up we will provide you with a Temperament Test Review Sheet indicating your dog's behavior throughout the day. The cost for the Test is $25 and is paid at this time.
  10. Congratulations! At this point your dog will be an official Pawtropolis Citizen. As long as all vet records are kept current, you are now invited to call/email and schedule reservations whenever needed.

Enrolling For Stay 'n Play and
Bed & Biscuit:

Because dogs boarding in the Apartments and Suites do not participate in the daycare activities, they do not have to have a Temperament Test prior to boarding. We do, however, have to have all paperwork completed and turned in before a reservation can even be made. All information can easily be faxed to us at 706-208-0808. We will need the following at Pawtropolis before we can make a reservation:

  1. Vet Records: we have to have records from the vet showing that the dog is current on Rabies, DHPP and Bordetella. Hand written records cannot be accepted.
  2. Enrollment Application: We must have a completed Enrollment Applications for every boarding guest. To get the forms ahead of time, you can request them by email.

Enrolling your cat:

  • Cats do not require a Temperament Test. You will need to provide us with records from your vet indicating that your cat has: Rabies, FVRCP, FeLV, yearly negative combo FeLV & FIV test. (Bordetella is highly recommended, but not required.) Hand-written records are not accepted. Warning: We require a higher standard of cat requirements than most boarding facilities. This is because we allow socialization and want to protect all of our boarding guests. You will need to make sure that your vet has given your cat all of the above requirements.
  • An enrollment application will need to be completed and turned in with your cat's records before we can make any reservations. To get the forms ahead of time, you can request them by email.

Featured Guest

Meet Dooley. Dooley started coming to Pawtropolis in September 07. Dooley quickly became a favorite of all the dogs in the medium playgroup as well as the staff.

Though Dooley loves playing with any dog that will play with him, he does have a best friend. His best friend is a beagle named Moonpie.

Dooley is a fun happy guy that fits in great at Pawtropolis. This is why he is our featured guest.
