Local Dogs in Competition

We are very proud to have many our our dogs readily participating in competitive sports. This page features both our employee and customer pets that are currently competing or have obtained titles already. We will also provide helpful links when we can regarding the sports that are featured. Check back often to watch, and root for, the dogs as they get more and more titles.

From Mom: Eli came to me when he was six months old. I lived in California at the time in a very small condo with another Airedale, Henry. While Henry was a gentleman, I've always described Eli as having the personality of a mischievous nine year old boy - one look at the grin on his face and his wagging tail will confirm that. He grew up going to dog parks where he learned canine manners. Eli is a very outgoing fellow, always eager to be friends.

Eli has always been very happy to work with me, but I'm a very leisurely trainer and we experienced a lot of changes in our lives together. His bubbly personality was a big help through some very stressful times. After the move to Georgia, we started taking agility classes. I entered Eli in preferred (dogs jump 4 inches less in preferred than in regular classes) because of his age when we started. He earned elihis novice jumpers title in 2008, after which he was retired because climbing the A-frame started bothering his back.

He earned his CD in the fall of 2008 in three trials with scores of 191.5 (second place), 193 (first place), and 196.5 (first place). You can see his third leg on youtube at <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMUekLMjOeM>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMUekLMjOeM

There is nothing like training for dog sports to build the bond and the partnership between a person and his or her best friend. Plus it's fun.

sallyBill and Nancy Akin
Chocolate Labrador Retriever DOB: Oct. 13, 2006

-Cadet Title in Extreme Vertical

Sally is part of team 3 Dog Flight (used to be Fire and Ice but with the addition of another competing family member the name had to be changed). Sally has been competing since about February 2008. Sally also competes in what is called Speed Retrieve.

Sally had a very exciting competing year in 2009. She now holds a Senior Title in Big Air, Turbo sallyTitle in Speed Retrieve and a Cadet Title in the Extreme Vertical. The Extreme Vertical is what you see her doing in the picture below. As of 2009 Sally is ranked #1 National Extreme Vertical Dog for the entire Southeast!!!

Both Sally and Spud are members of Dixie Dock Dogs. They encourage people to learn about the sport and maybe even join them for practices. Take a look at Sally's dock diving music video!

Featured guest pet Meet Bacchus. Talk about a big boy. Bacchus may be big but he's all puppy. He loves to play, running around outside with all his other large dog friends. Having a bad day? Just let Bacchus give you a big kiss and you can't help but smile.

Featured Adoptable
Featured Adoptable Meet Margie. Margie was scheduled to be adopted from Gwinnett Animal Control. When the family showed up and saw that she had sores on her skin they decided they didn't want her. Poor Margie's skin looks horrible. She suffered from the non-contagious mange. Though she's feeling much better her skin has a long way to go to look normal. Many people are passing her over because of this. Learn more about her story on the "Dogs for Adoption" page.
